Coming Fall 2014: FIU Broward Programs on the Move


Florida International University and Broward College celebrated their latest partnership initiative today at a paving ceremony on the site of their future joint-use facility currently under construction in Miramar. FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg and Broward College President J. David Armstrong, Jr. both expressed their excitement about working together to service the needs of the community and meet the demands to provide a highly educated workforce.

“At FIU, we are committed to serving the entire South Florida community and in doing so, continue to expand our footprint strategically,” said FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg. “FIU plays an important role in our community’s economic development, as we prepare our students to take good jobs and to create good jobs. We look forward to this new partnership that will benefit students along the 1-75 corridor for years to come.”

“FIU at I-75” is an 89,000 square-foot, four-story building designed by Perkins + Will and being built by Kaufman Lynn Construction. The LEED-certified facility and will feature classrooms, group breakout rooms, meeting spaces and a computer lab. There will be a shared student commons and dining area on the first floor, as well as a jogging patharound the perimeter of the building.

“We are looking forward to expanding our partnership with Broward College. While FIU has collaborated with Broward College for many years, our new joint location provides the opportunity for students to complete select two plus two programs under one roof.” said Dr. Diana Little, Director of the Broward Pines Center. “In addition to our current evening and Saturday options, we will work with the colleges to offer new innovative and flexible programs to meet current and future demands.”

FIU will be moving its current operations in Pembroke Pines to the FIU at I-75 facility, including enrollment services, undergraduate and graduate program offerings, certification/non-degree options, and non-credit programs.
